Colin also worked for TSE group in a structural and development engineering role, before setting up his own practice at Warkworth which he has since sold to concentrate on the practice set up in Christchurch to assist with the rebuild following the September 2010 earthquake. In moving to Christchurch to assist with the recovery, Colin took an active interest, making submissions to the Royal Commission on base isolation, submissions to MBIE on development of guidelines for rebuilding and actively pursued an in depth understanding of liquefaction, undertaking a post graduate paper at Canterbury University on Advanced Liquefaction Studies. Colin’s interests are Flying, vintage cars and motor caravanning with his wife and best friend Sandra. Chris emigrated from England in 2009 with his wife and children to restart his career in Structural Engineering.
His main areas of interest have been in building refurbishment and refit, notably the JD Wetherspoon Public House chain. For the past six years, Chris has been with a structural engineering company in Christchurch working on a variety of Architectural, hillside and subdivision homes as well as some light commercial projects mostly in the Canterbury area, but also across the country, working with major housing developers in the area. He has recently joined Ashby Consulting as a Senior Structural Engineer and is working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer. Chris took a career break to bring up his four boys and during that time was involved in the community through scouting, youth work and for 12 years on the Board of Governors at his children’s primary school.
He remains involved with scouting in New Zealand and enjoys opportunities for camping, tramping and exploring New Zealand. Simon is a graduate engineer from the University of Canterbury with a wide background in Civil Engineering, who started working for Ashby Consulting at the end of 2014. Simon possesses strong problem solving and analytical skills as well as the ability to adapt to many different types of work. Mariam graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2015 with a degree in Civil Engineering and began working for Ashby Consulting early in 2016.
Mariams current work includes a variety of structural design, geotechnical reporting and CAD drawings. As well as engineering Mariam enjoys travelling the work and cooking middle eastern food. Wook has recently graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours and started working for Ashby Consulting early in 2017 as a Graduate Engineer. Sara graduated in 2010 from the University of Cantabria, Spain, but developed her career in Chile as a seismic designer for four years.
Sara has worked in international projects in South America, North of Africa and the Middle East and most recently started working for Ashby Consulting at the beginning of 2017 as a Structural Engineer. Sara loves traveling, practicing any sports and tramping around New Zealand and she never misses the opportunity to enjoy skiing in the winter. Vanessa has worked in the istration field for over seventeen years and is currently studying part time towards a Diploma in Interior Design and Decorating. When she’s not working Vanessa enjoys spending time with her daughter, family and friends as well as traveling, reading and singing
