Deciding on Creative New Zealand’s three year budget and priority activities for the financial year, supporting the second year of delivery to our Statement of Intent . A good discussion was had on Creative New Zealand’s investment in Pasifika Arts, with Council noting how much has been achieved to date, areas that are currently being progressed and that engagement is continuing, with a focus on development opportunities. Council received the final draft of Creative New Zealand’s Annual Report for noting the excellent results within it and agreed that this is forwarded to the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage for tabling in the House of Representatives. The high level findings of the review of Investment programmes were presented, and additional work by staff agreed on, to support Council making decisions in July 2016. Council noted the solid performance of arts organisations across the T tara and Kahikatea portfolios, in meeting expectations in artistic, financial, organisational and audience performance measures.
Council approved the draft Statement of Intent medium term strategy and draft Statement of Performance Expectations annual plan , which now go to the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage for feedback. Council discussed Creative New Zealand’s strategic direction, noting the new strategy is being developed in an environment where lotteries funding is reducing. a minimum of four members with knowledge of M ori Arts, te ao M ori a M ori world view and tikanga M ori M ori protocol and culture appointed in consultation with the Minister of M ori Development. Andrew Caisley of Auckland has served as a member of the Arts Council, the New Zealand Book Council, and is currently a member of the New Zealand Film and Literature Board of Review.
He was the Director of the New Zealand M ori Arts and Crafts Institute, which alongside its expansive international programme operates the national schools for M ori material culture. This includes being WOMAD Festival Programme Director, Artistic Director of the Taranaki Festival of the Arts, Chair of Chamber Music New Zealand and Creative Hawkes Bay. He is an experienced cultural heritage and art gallery director who has held a number of senior positions in New Zealand and internationally. Formerly Manager, Culture and Heritage for Te R nanga o Ng ti Awa, he is a shareholder of ArtandAcre, a gallery and cultural heritage and cultural consultancy. Services

We offer financial support for the arts including funding for emerging and established artists, art practitioners, groups and organisations. One off grants for arts projects and activities are available across all artforms including M ori and Pacific arts projects. We provide funding to some significant arts organisations to facilitate continuous programmes of activity through our arts development and leadership programmes . We fund a range of fellowships, awards, residencies, bursaries and scholarships. Creative New Zealand will consider proposals from writers and illustrators to research and write high quality work in fiction or non fiction. Fiction includes, but isn't limited to, novels, novellas, short stories, poetry, children’s fiction, young adult fiction, graphic novels, illustrated picture books, and speculative fiction such as fantasy fiction, science fiction, detective fiction, and historical fiction. Music includes classical and contemporary music orchestral, choral, and band music opera jazz and improvised music sound art contemporary popular music world music and traditional and contemporary M ori and Pacific Island music. It also includes the work of M ori artists across all forms of contemporary arts practice. Pacific arts includes Pasifika artists undertaking contemporary and heritage arts projects in all art forms craft object art, dance, inter arts, literature, media arts, music, theatre and visual arts. We provide training and online resources such as workshops, coaching and videos to help artists and practitioners develop professionally, grow audiences and markets and manage their organisations. We also support internships and national touring to help develop New Zealand arts. We support artists and arts organisations to present their work at major international events. Biennale Art 2017 in Venice Creative New Zealand supports New Zealand's presentation at the international contemporary art exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. Invitations are extended to the indigenous people of 27 Pacific nations, and Creative New Zealand supports and coordinates the New Zealand delegation
