Hartnell Coolheat Ltd is a privately owned Air Conditioning, Heating and Ventilation company formed in November 1980 by Chris and Phil Hartnell. In 1980 Chris and Phil Hartnell recognized a unique opportunity to establish their very own air conditioning, heating and ventilation company specialising in commercial and residential heating and cooling projects. At the time there was little offered to the public in the way of quality, service orientated climate control installation. The company has gone from strength to strength in the following decades, growing from a relatively small family business to a 30 strong workforce with extensive capability in both domestic and commercial climate control.
Understanding their client’s needs for detailed, accessible information across a sometimes complicated process, Hartnell Coolheat introduced a clear programme to ensure the best levels of communication with the customer, and the greatest probability of their satisfaction. The company managers decided that if a project could not be delivered to this expectation it would simply not be started, a mandate that has helped the company’s profile continue to grow throughout Canterbury. This approach helped win new clients and guaranteed the repeat business of existing ones through the 90’s and into the 21st century. During this time the company introduced an in house design team and expanded their dedicated installation and service teams.
In 2006 the company solidified this presence with the purchasing of Nutemp Heating in Rangiora. Now, Hartnell Coolheat North Canterbury offers the same high standard of service as the city office, from the start to the finish. With the same dedication to client expectation and satisfaction as always Chris expanded again and formed his own sheet metal division, Hartnell Coolheat Sheet Metal Ltd. With a skilled and dedicated team on hand quickly producing high quality product, the sheet metal division has proven to be an invaluable addition to Hartnell Coolheat and continues to grow. Like so many Cantabrians the earthquakes of caused major disruptions and upheaval for Hartnell Coolheat.
With a number of our staff out of their homes, we were also forced out of our building. We then spent a number of months in portable buildings in our car park and anywhere we could find space while our building was repaired. Working closely with Daikin, Hartnell Coolheat became part of the EQR chimney replacement program whereby a heat pump was installed if the chimney was not to be rebuilt
