As a quarry reclamation project, the Isaac landscape is internationally recognised as the best of its kind. The land is used to give effect to the purposes of the Trust, primarily for the study, protection and breeding of native flora and fauna. The creation of the Isaac Conservation Park provides the public with access between the Groynes, Clearwater and Waimakariri recreational areas, throughout abounding native riparian plantings alongside the Otukaikino stream. Mike Higgins accepted the prestigious Gold Award for Environmental Excellence on Friday, 15th July, on behalf of Isaac Construction.
Isaac Construction were of the three Canterbury quarries who have taken top honours at the Quarry NZ Industry Awards held in Blenheim for environmental practices. The quarry is owned by the Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust, set up by Sir Neil and Lady Diana Isaac to further conservation goals.
