What you should know about Physio NZ

Physiotherapists in Christchurch, Personal Care in Christchurch

Bachelor of Science Hons Physiotherapy Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, 2006 Post Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation PINC Cancer Rehabilitation Certification Course, June 2013, STEEL Cancer rehabilitation Certification Course, Sep 2013 First Aid and CPR Foundation Hydrotherapy June 2007. Robyn combines her interest in mental health and musculoskeletal knowledge to provide holistic assessments and treatment programmes to a variety of conditions. On reaching Christchurch, Robyn worked in community mental health supporting people into exercise. Through this role she recognised the correlation between pain and poor mental health, and sought further knowledge in this area by participating in a Physiotherapy Mental Health Discussion Group and completing a Post Graduate Certification in Rehabilitation.
Robyn is now settled in Christchurch and is co director of Physio NZ Limited with her husband Marcus Thompson. Robyn has a keen interest in the future of Physiotherapy and is a member of the Physiotherapy Advisory Group PAG under the Canterbury Clinical Network and is a member on the Canterbury Physiotherapy Branch Committee. I have worked in Private practice treating all kinds of injuries and have spent 2 years working in London hospitals where I gained experience in chronic pain management and orthopaedic conditions. I believe in returning you to your best ability in the most timely fashion that is achievable while educating you on your injury and management of that injury at the same time.
I have been a physio now for 19 years, and helped nearly 10,00 people through NZ and Australia in that time. All our staff have a commitment to providing clients with the highest possible standards of treatment and service. Our physiotherapists consult regularly with one another and if it is felt that you will benefit from one of our other services this will be suggested to you. We offer a follow up service between appointments if necessary, and encourage self management and education. The Physiotherapist will need to see clearly the area involved and so suitable clothing should be worn.
Following the examination, the Physiotherapist will provide you with some advice around managing your complaint, will provide you with some exercises for you to try at home, and may do some hands on treatment also. If your are being seen for lower back or leg and feet injuries, then shorts are advised. We aim to provide our clients with a relaxed and friendly environment where they will receive education and quality management by professional and experienced staff. This will enable our clients to return to full sport and daily activity levels, while simultaneously learning appropriate self management strategies for the future.
We are committed to providing ongoing education to all team members, while simultaneously encouraging for all staff to develop their own career pathways and specialist areas within a supportive, team oriented environment. The logo was designed in 2012 incorporating the Koru, a symbol of new beginnings, with the tools of our trade hands
