What you should know about Pushbikes Papanui
We aim to be a comprehensive bike shop, offering much more than just a shiny new bike. We offer a wide range of products and services for every cyclist’s needs from Sunday rides with the kids to your regular bash around the Port Hills and elite level competition. Pushbikes opened in 2001, when Richard Allin purchased an existing cycle shop located in Rangiora, North Canterbury. The shop was typical of a local rural bike shop at the time, catering strictly to the family market, with the most expensive bike on the floor being a stark contrast to today.
Due to the success of the Rangiora store, and our continually growing Christchurch customer base, this was a logical step in expanding Pushbikes. The Yahoo Challenge which was situated in Hurunui North Canterbury was an iconic Canterbury MTB event which ran for over 10 years. In more recent years we have been focused on supporting younger riders through our Support Programme. It gives me great pleasure to see youngsters work their way up the ranks and achieve their goals and aspirations in the sport.
The lack of support and help from those within the industry was something that I noticed and found hard as a junior rider back in the day, so it’s nice to be in a position on the other side now to offer this. Our Support Programme has produced some talented riders, including the likes of Anton Cooper, who we took under our wing when he was just 12 years old. We also offer free after sales service checks, service call reminders, special offers, demo bikes, monthly newsletters and preferential discounts through our Customer Club’, all of which add a few extras that we provide for you. We know about, but more importantly we are enthusiastic about riding bikes, and with all this experience we can offer you the right advice the first time. While some stores specialise in a particular area of expertise, our aim is to offer a wide range of bikes from kids, mountain, road, BMX, commuter, cyclo x and time trial. This is made possible by having a strong relationship with Giant Bicycles, being one of their largest stockiest in New Zealand.
What makes Giant different is that they are a factory based brand, meaning Giant researches, designs, builds, assembles, and even packages everything under one roof. I believe this gives them a strong advantage over the competition, especially when it comes to value for money. We also stock a range of BMX completes from Fit, WTP and Cult to complement our range
