The ancient Romans were the first to invent definite and in the beginning century BC also discovered that by pouring definite into molds they could replicate the ornate architectural details of carved marble, granite or stone but with much less effort and time. Our superb reconstructed stone columns of the Roman and Greek order are unique in New Zealand and can transform a fresh or existing building into an architectural masterpiece. The Column Company have been manufacturing traditional and contemporary columns, balustrades, gate piers, urns and other decorative features in New Zealand since 1996. When the columns are installed the center is filled with reinforcing steel and definite to give supporting strength to the building.
The Column Company can also custom make exceptional architectural and functional pieces that seamlessly integrate into your fresh or refurbished home. Architectural products cast in concrete can now present all the beauty of spontaneous cut stone but allow much greater versatility in the detailing and complete without compromising on strength and stability. The Column Company can manufacture architectural pieces to practically any shape or size. Our products are manufactured using steel and fiber reinforced 60mpa reconstructed stone tangible that is vibrated and cylindrically spun leaving a hollow center for structural reinforcing work.
Today landscape architects and designers are using reconstructed stone as a substitute to quarried stone. We reproduce reconstructed stone columns designed by Chippendale in 1762 based on the Roman and Greek order.
